Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk whole milk for extra creaminess, but any type will work
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces of the best-quality white chocolate finely chopped

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, pour in the milk and add the pure vanilla extract. Set the heat to medium and allow the mixture to warm up, stirring occasionally. You want to heat the milk just until it starts to steam—this will take around 5 to 6 minutes. Be careful not to let the milk boil, as this can change the texture and taste of your hot chocolate.
  • Once the milk is steaming, reduce the heat slightly and add your finely chopped white chocolate. It’s important to use good-quality white chocolate for the best flavor and smoothness. Whisk continuously as the chocolate melts into the milk. Keep whisking until the chocolate is completely melted and fully combined with the milk.
  • After the white chocolate has melted into the mixture, pour the hot chocolate evenly into four mugs. Serve immediately, while it’s still piping hot. For an extra treat, you can top it with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon!

Notes

To store leftover white hot chocolate, let it cool to room temperature, then transfer it to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3 days. When ready to enjoy again, reheat gently on the stove over low heat, stirring frequently. Avoid boiling to preserve the creamy texture. You can also microwave it in short intervals, stirring in between.
